I came back home today to sort out a car to take back with me and found a nice Corsa with low mileage and one previous owner. Hopefully the finance will work out OK and I’ll be able to drive back to Lancaster on Friday. Insurance is a bit of a pain though, as I’m now being quoted 200-400 quid more than I was originally.
Had some fun (!) training at the new pub last night – the trainers really know how to patronise you, but at least I’m missing out on more ’til the weekend.
Well I arrived back in Lancaster on Sunday afternoon to another new (and empty) house. I came back to uni early to get on with the Bailrigg FM website, but when I got here, the computer that I would have done the site on is buggered. It is in need of a new (and not easy to get hold of) motherboard. Which is quite irritating.
Feels like my whole journey up here was wasted. And I’ve gotta go back home tomorrow for a family thing on Thursday. I really do have the worst luck. Bloody Murphy’s Law has been annoying me for weeks.
At least I’ve got a job in the new JD Wetherspoon pub Sir Richard Owen opening here next week (where Springs nightclub used to be), but I can only make a couple of days training. Which they weren’t too happy about…
Well, what a busy couple of weeks I’ve had. When I’m not working late at The Elms, or Mill Hall I’m not working late, at Southend Hospital. This week I’ve been in Pathology, sorting out samples. Yes, of all shapes and sizes. Well not really all shapes and sizes. Mainly blood. At least it’s more interesting than Medical Records…
Not a lot been happening apart from work, except a big family do in London tomorrow and (no!) two days off next week!
Had a late night last night working at the Mill Hall Irish/Folk night. Joys. Especially listening to some bloke’s random sexual encounters (“aah, that one was soooo fit!”) because our bar was completely dead.
I’ve also just realised how frustrating it’s going to be next year without a permanent internet connection – I can’t even send my Lancs e-mail properly now (they’ve gone and disabled the smtp from anywhere outside the uni). Got a phone call from the landlady as well. She’d forgotten I’d already paid my summer retainer.
Oh well, back to work in half an hour…
I started one of my new jobs at a wedding on Sunday night. Wasn’t too bad – a bit dead, but we all got £10 bonuses from the groom! Applied for lots of other places, and have interviews lined up.
But at the moment it’s all Sky Digital (well I’ve gotta make the most of it while I can). Parents have gone on holiday for a couple of weeks, so Hayley and I are attempting to fend for ourselves…
